Tracker setup

The tracker needs to know where to send its positions. Set the server address and port by manufacturer, the access point of your SIM card (APN) and the time to UTC, via SMS or a configuration program. A tracker from a GetPosition.app partner is usually set up in advance.

Before setup

  1. Insert the SIM card into a phone and turn off the PIN. The tracker cannot enter a PIN and will not connect with a card that has one.
  2. Check that the card has active data and ask the operator for the access point name (APN).
  3. Add the tracker by IMEI to your account in the app or at app.getposition.app.

Teltonika

Configured with the Teltonika Configurator program on a computer (connect the tracker with a USB cable) or by SMS command.

Via Configurator

  1. Open the GPRS tab and enter the APN of your SIM card (and the username and password if the operator requires them).
  2. Under Server Settings enter Domain gps.getposition.app, Port 5027, Protocol TCP.
  3. In the System tab leave the time zone at UTC (default).
  4. Save the settings to the tracker with Save to device.

Via SMS

  1. APN: setparam 2001:apn.name (two spaces at the start when the tracker has no SMS password).
  2. Server: setparam 2004:gps.getposition.app;2005:5027;2006:0
The tracker logs in within a minute of switching on and appears in the app as connected. If it does not show up within 10 minutes, check the APN and that the SIM has data.

Jimi / Concox and ProTrack

Configured by SMS commands. The factory password is usually 123456.

  4. The tracker replies with a confirmation and restarts the connection.

Coban

Configured by SMS commands with the tracker password (factory 123456).

  1. Start: begin123456
  2. APN: apn123456 apn.name
  3. Server: adminip123456 gps.getposition.app 5025
  4. Time zone: time zone123456 0
  5. Enable sending: gprs123456

If you cannot see the tracker

  1. The tracker must be added to an account by IMEI, otherwise the server does not store its positions.
  2. The SIM card must have active data, the PIN turned off and the correct APN.
  3. The first position appears once the tracker gets a GPS fix, outdoors usually within a few minutes.
  4. If nothing helps, write to us at support@getposition.app with the model and IMEI.
